2020 is the 35th anniversary of Sylvanian Families. This year there'll be some fabulous limited edition sets coming out to celebrate their 35th anniversary. Coming to our store soon. Keep tuned on this one....!
Sylvanian Families originated in Japan and made the journey to the UK in 1987. It became an iconic toy of the ‘80s and received the UK Toy of the Year award for three years running. Sold in over 50 countries, Sylvanian Families is a global brand, with themed restaurants and a dedicated theme park in Japan. To date, more than 100 million Sylvanian Families figures have been sold worldwide.
Let's have a look at some of the 1985 favourites
This was the first Sylvanian Famiiles home. You could say it was the fore-runner of the Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage of today - the Starter cottage.
It's quaint, was made of both plastic and wood, the furniture was all green and some of the items were made of porcelain, such as crockery, the bath-tub and toilet. Also note that there was no front door on the early buildings, only a side entrance door.
